If your Xbox 360 has finished working and you are having the III red light problem don’t fret, there is hope. With some simple tools and a decent repair manual you can perform the Xbox 360 Fix.
You will need a set of torx screwdrivers, If you dont have a set you can scoop up a cheap set at your neighborly hardware store.
The III Red light(s) problem means that there is a unit hardware failure. First thing you want to attempt is to unplug everything and let your system sit for 20 minutes disconnected from the power. Replug everything in and attempt it another time, If you’re still getting the problem take out the HD and re-install it. most of the time they get loose and you get a bad hookup.
If that quick fix method did not resolve it you will need to pop it up at this point. The most frequent failures are no video or disks will be read . Both can be repaired fairly easy.
If you have no visual you can try a new similar video cord, steal a friends cable cord if you do not have an alternate one. If you still have no video but audio is working you will need to check the soldering connections on the mother board for the video connector. Take a look at the manual before attempting this or any other internal repairs.
If your Xbox 360 is not reading the disks or getting disk errors make sure your disks are clean. After that you may have to replace the DVD drive or if you have the skills you can remove the DVD drive and replace just the pick up assembly. This is a lot more cost effective than swapping the whole drive. Again read the repair manual before attempting this.
